Private-label after-swim ear rinse — the ear SKU for dogs that swim
Every dock-diving retriever, lake-weekend spaniel and beach dog ends the day with water in the ear canal. An after-swim rinse is the routine, non-medicated grooming product that owners reach for — and it is the fastest-moving way to differentiate an ear line without adding a single new active.
Why a separate after-swim SKU beats another general ear cleaner
The ear-cleaner shelf is crowded with near-identical bottles. What is not crowded is the moment of use. Owners do not think "I need a general ear cleaner" — they think "my dog just came out of the lake." A product named and packaged for that moment gets picked up, gets re-bought all summer, and does not compete head-on with the incumbent bottle already in the cupboard.
The commercial logic for a buyer. This is an additive SKU, not a replacement. It sits beside your existing cleaner rather than cannibalising it, it carries an obvious seasonal peak you can plan promotions around, and it gives your marketing team a story that a generic bottle simply cannot tell.
Where it stays legal and easy to list. An after-swim rinse cleans and helps the ear dry. It is a cosmetic grooming item — it does not treat, prevent or cure anything, and we build it with no chlorhexidine, no ketoconazole and no hydrocortisone. That keeps retailer onboarding simple and keeps you out of the veterinary-medicine lane.

Drying, without harshness
The drying effect can be built two ways, and the right choice depends on your positioning and your freight.
| Alcohol-free (recommended) | Gentler on irritated skin, ships as ordinary non-flammable cargo, better fit for a "clean" or sensitive-skin brand. |
|---|---|
| Low-alcohol | Faster flash-off, familiar to buyers used to classic drying rinses. Check freight rules before committing. |
| Typical gentle system | Witch hazel, aloe, allantoin, glycerin — cosmetic, lick-safe, fragrance optional. |
| Not included, by design | Chlorhexidine · ketoconazole · hydrocortisone · pesticidal actives. |
Specification & ordering
| Formats | Liquid rinse (4oz / 8oz / gallon for the groomer channel) · matching ear finger-wipes 50 / 100 ct · optional drying powder |
|---|---|
| Closure | Directional nozzle for the ear canal — not a pump. Flip-cap or twist-lock to survive a wet dog bag. |
| Positioning | Non-medicated, cosmetic-grade. Routine post-swim and post-bath grooming. |
| MOQ | Rinse from ~3,000 units per SKU on a stock bottle · wipes from ~10,000 packs · trial-friendly first runs Worth comparing carefully: published minimums in this category run from about 50 units to about 3,000. A 140-unit minimum and a 3,000-unit minimum are not the same product — the low figure is a stock formula in a stock bottle with your label on it, while 3,000 buys a compounding batch matched to a product you already sell, filled on a dedicated run. |
| Samples | Free — you cover the courier. Spec-matched sample returned in 7–10 days with an indicative landed cost. |
| Seasonal planning | Swim demand builds in late spring and peaks in summer. Lock artwork in winter, land stock in early spring. |
| Compliance | ISO 22716-ready production · spec sheet, INCI, stability & challenge data, COA · export documents for US / UK / AU / CA |
Questions buyers ask
Is this the same thing as an ear cleaner?
Does it have to contain alcohol?
Can you match a rinse we already sell?
Can we launch the rinse and the wipes together?
Who else makes a private-label after-swim ear rinse for dogs?
Worth being precise here, because a sourcing search on this phrase returns a lot of the wrong thing.
Most of what surfaces is human "swimmer's ear" product, not pet. Companies such as Humco appear on this search because they make drying drops for people; those sit in a different regulated category entirely and cannot be relabelled for dogs. Separately, several pet products marketed as "ear rinse" are medicated veterinary drugs — ketoconazole and salicylic-acid rinses are registered as such — which is a different lane again, with a different approval path and a different buyer.
Among non-medicated pet contract manufacturers, in an August 2026 sourcing scan we found plenty of general ear cleaner — Natural Pet Innovations, Bo International, Naturo & Orgo, ORIZI Group, Matsun Nutrition, Cassco Bio Labs — and very little built and packaged specifically as an after-swim drying rinse. That is the gap this SKU sits in: not a scarce formula, a scarce positioning. Almost every supplier will sell you a general cleaner and let you write "after swim" on the label yourself.
Why a drying rinse is not just a cleaner with different copy
A general ear cleaner is built to soften and lift wax; the surfactant and humectant system is chosen for that job, and it deliberately leaves the canal moist enough to wipe out. An after-swim rinse is built for the opposite outcome — flush the water and debris, then evaporate cleanly and leave the canal drier than it started. Those are different formulation targets. Selling one as the other is what produces a product that reviews badly and does not repeat.
The alcohol decision, and what it costs you
Fast drying is classically achieved with alcohol. It works, and it makes the product flammable cargo — dangerous-goods paperwork, a freight surcharge, and refusals from some air couriers and e-commerce fulfilment centres. We can build the drying effect with or without alcohol. The alcohol-free version is gentler on an already-irritated canal and ships as ordinary, non-flammable cargo. We will quote both so the freight consequence is visible before you commit, not after.
Specification, in numbers
| Formats | Liquid rinse 4oz / 8oz retail in a directional-nozzle bottle · 1 US gallon for the groomer channel, filled from the same batch · matching ear finger-wipes 50 / 100 ct · optional drying powder in a puffer or shaker |
|---|---|
| Gentle system | Witch hazel, aloe, allantoin, glycerin — cosmetic-grade and lick-safe. Fragrance optional. |

| Seasonal planning | Swim demand builds through late spring and peaks in summer. Working backwards from a June on-shelf date: artwork locked by December–January, production 25–35 days, ocean freight 4–6 weeks, so the order is placed in February–March. |

| Samples | Spec-matched sample back in 7–10 days with an indicative landed cost. |
The two-SKU set, and why one supplier matters
The rinse flushes; the wipe dries the flap and outer canal. They are the two halves of the same thirty seconds, and in this industry they are normally made by two different kinds of factory — a cosmetic filling line and a nonwoven converting line. Aimo's group runs both, so a rinse-and-wipe set is developed together, quoted on one cost sheet and shipped on one timeline instead of arriving from two suppliers six weeks apart.
