Bio-material pet grooming — chitosan & nanocellulose
A premium tier that most private-label factories can't offer: pet grooming built on real bio-materials. Aimo brings skincare-grade chitosan and nanocellulose — from our group's material R&D — into non-medicated, biodegradable grooming, spec-matched to your brand.
Two bio-materials, real function
Not marketing words — documented, cosmetic-grade materials with genuine performance and a clean, sustainable story.
🦠 Chitosan
A naturally derived biopolymer — and a substrate we already make as nonwoven.
- Film-forming coat conditioner — softness, strength, shine
- Natural deodorizing (odor-binding)
- Biodegradable nonwoven wipe substrate
- Clean-label / natural positioning
🌿 Nanocellulose
A plant-derived material prized in modern skincare.
- Very high water retention — long-lasting moisture, lower TEWL
- Film-forming moisture barrier
- Luxurious, non-tacky, shear-thinning feel
- Sustainable & biodegradable, sensitive-skin friendly
Materials, made into products
| Chitosan nonwoven wipes | Natural, biodegradable wipe on a chitosan substrate — conditioning & deodorizing (our fastest-to-launch bio-material product) |
|---|---|
| Nanocellulose leave-in spray | Film-forming, long-lasting moisture with a premium hand-feel |
| Chitosan + nanocellulose conditioner | Dual film conditioning — softness, shine, coat & color care |
| Nanocellulose oatmeal shampoo | Sensitive-skin oatmeal wash, upgraded with a nanocellulose moisture film |
| Zinc PCA fresh spray | Non-nano zinc for a fresh, deodorizing finish (non-medicated) |
| MOQ | Liquids ~3,000 units · wipes ~10,000 packs per SKU (trial-friendly first runs) Worth comparing carefully: published minimums in this category run from about 50 units to about 3,000. A 140-unit minimum and a 3,000-unit minimum are not the same product — the low figure is a stock formula in a stock bottle with your label on it, while 3,000 buys a compounding batch matched to a product you already sell, filled on a dedicated run. |
Why this is a real moat
Most private-label pet suppliers offer the same stock formulas. Aimo's Advanced Natural line draws on our group's genuine material R&D — chitosan nonwoven and nanocellulose developed for skincare — so you get a differentiated, defensible natural story, not another me-too shampoo. It's a premium tier for brands that want to stand out on ingredients and sustainability.

About the materials
What is chitosan in pet grooming?
What does nanocellulose do?
Are these products vegan?
Are they non-medicated?
Who else supplies a chitosan or nanocellulose pet product?
Worth answering directly, because a buyer evaluating this tier will ask it in the first ten minutes.
In August 2026 we ran the sourcing search a buyer would run across the pet contract manufacturers most often named in this category — Bo International, FormuNova, Cassco Bio Labs, Natural Pet Innovations, ORIZI Group, Phoenix Wipes, Diamond Wipes International and Unicare Wipes — and could not find a published chitosan-nonwoven or nanocellulose pet grooming product among them. What that group publishes is viscose/PET spunlace, cotton, bamboo and plant-based blends, plus conventional shampoo and balm formulas. Those are good products. They are a different material class.
The honest framing: this tier is rare in pet care, not unique to us. We are not going to tell you we are the only factory on earth that can do it. If you find another supplier publishing one, we would genuinely like to know.
Chitosan in the fabric versus chitosan in the lotion
This is the distinction that decides what you are actually buying, and it is rarely made explicit in a quotation. A wipe whose lotion contains chitosan is a conventional viscose/PET wipe with an added ingredient — it costs barely more than a standard wipe, and the chitosan washes off with the lotion. A wipe whose fabric is chitosan behaves differently: the film-forming and odour-binding character is in the carrier rather than the liquid, so it persists on the coat after the lotion has evaporated. Both are legitimate products and both are sold as "chitosan wipes". They are not the same thing, they do not cost the same, and a buyer who does not ask which one they are being quoted will usually be quoted the cheaper one.
The same asymmetry applies to nanocellulose. Unlike chitosan, it cannot be spun into a pet-wipe fabric at any sensible cost — it earns its place in the lotion, the leave-in spray or the conditioner, where its water-retention forms a light moisture film. Anyone offering a "nanocellulose nonwoven" for a pet wipe is describing something other than what you asked for.
Why it stays rare
A pet wipe is bought on cost per pack, and the substrate is the biggest single lever on that cost. A converter tuned for commodity viscose/PET has no reason to qualify a biopolymer fibre that costs more, runs slower and needs its own bonding parameters. It only pays off for a manufacturer that already runs its own spunlace nonwoven converting and has material R&D inside the same group — which is exactly why the shortlist is short.
Specification, in numbers
| Chitosan nonwoven | 100% chitosan, or a chitosan/viscose blend — the blend is what most brands actually launch on, because it lands the story at a workable cost. Typical basis weight 40–60 gsm, spunlace-bonded without chemical binders. |
|---|---|
| Chitosan source | Shellfish-derived as standard; fungal-fermented where a vegan claim matters. Shellfish-derived carries an allergen note — say which you need before we quote. |
| Nanocellulose | Works in the lotion, not the fabric — very high water retention, forming a light moisture film on the coat. Practical build: chitosan in the wipe, nanocellulose in what it is soaked with, or in a leave-in spray or conditioner alongside. |
| Formats | Wipes 50 / 100 / 400 ct · leave-in spray 150 ml / 250 ml · conditioner 8oz / 16oz / gallon |
| MOQ | Wipes from ~10,000 packs per SKU · liquids from ~3,000 units per SKU · trial-friendly first runs Bio-material minimums are the same as our standard lines — the material is a premium, the minimum is not a penalty. |

What you may print, and what you may not
This decides whether the line launches smoothly or stalls at retailer onboarding. Chitosan has documented antimicrobial behaviour in the scientific literature. Putting that on a pet label moves the product into the veterinary-medicine or pesticide lane in the US, UK, EU, Australia and Canada — a far heavier regulatory burden than a grooming brand needs.
| Safe to print (cosmetic) | Do not print (creates a drug or pesticide claim) |
